Sewing box bag

Front of bag

Back of bag
Just finished a bag to take to sewing classes. 22 machine embroidered sewing box designs and 22 small machine embroidered designs on the navy fabric. This is a large bag all the blocks are 5 inch square, the side ties undo for extra space. All I need is to find a button to complete it.

Quilts quilts and more quilts

Two views of my workroom!! All the quilts you can see made and partly made are for Linus. So far 16 are complete, 1 needs the binding sewing down and 3 are still just tops at the moment.
They were all started at a Church group meeting but there is a lot of finishing to do.

BQS on Saturday

Saturday was the Bedford Quilters and Stitchers meeting, always a favorite of mine.
I was asked to teach a workshop on coloured trapunto, which went very well [ except I forgot to take any photos!]

Before we started the workshops there was a display of  sample stitching books that a group had made. I was so impressed I did remember to take a photo, and would like to make one myself sometime.

Father's Day

Rutland Water
As yesterday was Father's Day Chris and I went for a country ride, taking in the wonderful sight of Rutland Water. Then onto Gates Garden Centre for a bite of lunch missing the heavy showers of rain.

Sad loss to quilters

Chilford, There was an Arson attack last night , two caught. Smoke could be seen as far away as Girton as 60 firefighters battled 50ft flames which leapt from the wooden and brick barns, some of which date back to the 1700s. Firefighters managed to save the house, wine store and shop, but the 18th-century Linton Barn and the Grade II-listed Great Hall, which dates to 1820, were both lost, as were the adjoining Pavilion and Gallery. Chilford quilt show has always been so popular, it is such a sad loss to loose this venue.

Linus Quilt Day by LDS

Patchworkers

Helping Hands

10 quilts ready for hand sewing
Saturday a "Helping Hands" day was arranged at the Church of Latter Day Saints, and I was asked to arrange a morning of patchworking. Many donations of fabric were received from friends and complete strangers, thank you all so much. Our chosen charity was Linus, and having set the room up about 20 to 25 ladies came to help. Many had never owned a sewing machine but with a little help all managed to achieve quilt tops. Some members of Church ironed, some pinned backing to batting and tops, some cut fabric. It was a hectic morning but enjoyed by all.
I have spent the last two days quilting the tops to batting and backing plus adding the bindings ready for the final finishing hand sewing on Friday at our craft meeting.
Ten quilts are ready for the final hemming, while about 4 or 5 are still in the making.

Diana's funeral has now been arranged with Hollowells Funeral Directors. If anyone on this blog is interested in attending please go t...
