Solar panels

Home
This has been a busy week. Solar panels are being fitted to the house, and there have been visits from the contractor, electrician and finally on Friday three men came in the pouring rain and erected the scaffolding. On Tuesday they are arriving to put the Solar panels up.

It seems strange seeing the house wrapped in a cage.. especially as it is over my workroom!

Bobbin tree

Loading the bobbins
I have 59 pairs of lace bobbins wound with Campbell's Linen thread hanging on my bobbin tree.  Started putting them on the pillow.

First ME Swap

A yahoo group I belong to, "Quilt with us " have just hosted a machine embroidery swap.
I thought I would take part, and machine embroidered 10 poppy's onto white-on-white fabric. The theme was floral.
I also included a little extra for the person doing the swap.. the daffodil and lavender.
Ten of us took part and I cannot wait to get my ten blocks back.

LACE

Tablecloth
About 30 years ago I started to make a lace tablecloth and finished the centre, round two and then round four. It has not seen the light of day for more years than I care to remember.
Eight years ago I retired from teaching bobbinlace and have done very little since.
The visit I made to Patsy and her friends making lace in Florida spurred me on to start making lace again.
I needed something simple and unbelievably found the tablecloth, prickings and thread.. so I am working on winding 59 pairs of bobbins to start round three.

Can I have an iPad2 ?

Relaxing

Wonder if Dad would miss this!

Last Sunday as Jacqueline [daughter in law] was away in China, Richard brought the girls over for lunch .  I am not known for my cooking but even I managed to get the pork joint to have a crackling top much to the delight of the children.  A friend, Katie from Church had told me how to make cinnamon buns.. Abigail ate about 10 of the 18 mini buns that I made..  Eleanor age 4 loves the iPad and seems to know more about it than I do!

Wee Bird #6

Blackbird
Two days of quilting this week, one at Bedford with Sue Sewell.. managed to made a rabbit snuggle for a baby, and today at Poppy Patch.
Both days were sit and sew for me as I did not want to start anything else.. I have too many projects forming a UFO pile!

Today I worked on my Wee Red Winged Blackbird kit and completed my sixth bird in a set of 12. This one was difficult because of the four different black fabrics in the kit, all looked very similar, and do not show up well in the photo.  However I am pleased with the finished bird.

Summer BOM
I am so enjoying the BOM machine embroidery with BSK, that I am making it twice. Once in Summer fabrics and repeating it in Christmas fabrics. I cannot wait to complete the project.

This school holiday it was decided to make a set of sewing aids, a little ambitious in a 6 hour workshop but all five of us managed to make the set. Pincushion, Needle case, Thimble holder and Scissor case. Well done everyone, especially the children.

The photo shows Jenny [ button fabric] Penny [Black/White fabric] Abigail [Easter eggs and mermaid fabric] Olivia [sewing aid fabric] and mine used Lace bobbin fabric.
