Florida

Here we are in Florida for two weeks holiday. I have not worked out how to add photos from my iPad2 yet. Exciting time in Gatwick when the whole airport was evacuated as the fire alarm was going off. Turned out to be McDonalds! Due to my bad knee I had to have a minibus lift back across the airfield to get back into the building. This took us through parts of Gatwick you never normally see. Today is Mothering Sunday and we are going to see some of the sights and have a look at the Temple.

Linus quilt from scraps

Having finished my Prayer Garden quilt I had lots of fabric left over, so cut it all into 2 1/2" strips and made a backing for the Prayer Garden.. still had a load left over so managed to make this quick and easy strip quilt for Linus.

Bird #5

My first 5 birds

Blue Jay
Another foundation pieced bird has joined the flock.
Now have 7 more to make and Since managing to finish the one with the missing fabric I am keen to get them done.

Wee Hummingbird

What a great suprise this morning when the postman delivered a packet from Silver Linings containing enough green batik for me to finish my Wee Hummingbird.

I now have completed four of the Wee Bird series and have eight more to make.

This should like to a jigsaw of the quilted bird.

Prayer Quilt

At last I have backed and put on the binding to my Prayer Quilt.

Having bought 4 yellow, 4 pink, 4 green and 4 blue FQ's for the sashing I had lots left, so cut it all into 2 1/2 inch strips and pieced it back together for the backing.. still have enough left over to make a Linus Quilt!

I then used some of the strips for the multi coloured binding.

BQS Day

Saturday Penny and I attended Bedford Quilters Day, where a number of workshops are held in the morning and there is a speaker in the afternoon.

We managed to get on the silk painting workshop with Yvonne Bell, and had a wonderful time painting on small silk squares to make two cards each.

In the afternoon Yvonne gave us all a wonderful talk on Vestment Designs.

Threads and Patches Day

Heather's quilt, designed by Sally

Smiles all around

Today a group of us [16] went to Threads and Patches at Fenny Stratford for one of Sally's special days.
The day started with cake and a drink, then followed a number of demonstrations some causing quite a laugh! Making a Bow-tie block will never be the same again!!
This was followed by a very nice buffet lunch, and then "shop till you drop" one member even spent her car parking money!  Thank you Threads and Patches for another great day, we'll see you again in November.

Diana's funeral has now been arranged with Hollowells Funeral Directors. If anyone on this blog is interested in attending please go t...
