Chilford, There was an Arson attack last night , two caught. Smoke could be seen as far away as Girton as 60 firefighters battled 50ft flames which leapt from the wooden and brick barns, some of which date back to the 1700s. Firefighters managed to save the house, wine store and shop, but the 18th-century Linton Barn and the Grade II-listed Great Hall, which dates to 1820, were both lost, as were the adjoining Pavilion and Gallery. Chilford quilt show has always been so popular, it is such a sad loss to loose this venue.
