Richard arrives

Richard flew in on Saturday and immediately the girls wanted him in the pool!

Lunch at the house and then afternoon pool time and lots of (actually too many) games of UNO andYahtzee. A trip to find somewhere to eat had us back at the camp site up the road, where we seem to have become regulars. Richard tried the Tony burger and it almost defeated him!

We stayed up until the pool lights came on and they gave us a show, it was quite dark and hard to see them but they had fun. We made pink popcorn to eat.

They are somewhere down there in the dark pool!

After a lazy breakfast of Pan au Chocolate and croissants more pool time and then lunch. We played a game of Scribble that friend Pat had lent us to allow the food to settle before leaving Richard, Abigail and Eleanor at the beach where they hired a pedallo with a slide.

Off to Resturant alley for dinner tonight.

Spanish holiday

Up early Tuesday 25th August to catch the 6.55am plane to Murcia. All went well and we did not have to wait long for take off.

€28 for a camera to iPad connection means I can now blog a few photos even though I don't seem to have a minute to spare. (Yes I forgot my thingy to be able to connect)

It has been wonderful having the children with us and they have made loads of friends and rarely want to leave the complex and the pool!

Crochet stool

A big thank you to those who made a comment on the two posts my granddaughters made. They always like looking at the blog and wanted to make their own contribution, they loved the comments..

My latest crochet adventure... a new top for my foot stool. The colours are not " me " at all but they look good on the stool that has been in my family for more years than I care to remember!

On our second day of staying at Grandma's and Granddad's we decided to go to Emmaus and Odell country park. At Emmaus we bought purses and a handbag mirror. We got ice-creams from Odell country park(Grandma paid for it) and played on the play equipment for a while before coming back and watching Despicable me with cheese and and crackers and rice crispy bites for tea.

Today we are embroidering sunflowers and doing ladies that lunch + 1 at Toby carvery. For the rest of the day we are playing games. Blog written by Abigail, 11 and 3/4 and Eleanor 7 and 3/4.

We made our skirts by sewing together long strips of fabric together with normal stitch and zig zag stitch. Grandma was very happy with using up some of her fabric stash.

Where did the week go?

Guess I'm playing catch up again it has been a busy week and suddenly its Friday and I have not blogged all week.
Tuesday we went off roading and enjoyed a lovely bright sunny day travelling Byways and lanes in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. One of the routes was so overgrown Chris had to lob off a branch blocking our way, who would have thought travelling with a saw would come in handy!

Wednesday the postman delivered FIVE parcels, four for me and one from Chris. The Jane Crow Persian Tiles crochet kit was probably the most exciting, although the new sandals for my holiday came in a close second. I also received a new packet of stitch markers and the keys to the house we are renting in Spain, they just made me want to go to Spain NOW!

Thursday was a sewing day at Bedford with Sue and Annette. I decided to do my own thing as I wanted to make a cabin bag and matching handbag for our holiday. I found the cargo bag pattern on NoodleHead web site and the only thing I would change if I made it again is to put in a loose lining. I am really pleased with it and it will fit nicely in the overhead locker on the plane. To complete the 'outfit' I adapted the owl bag pattern I made earlier this month and made it in fabric to match the cargo bag. I added a zip to the top for better security and a zipped pocket inside to hide passports.

Poppy Patch Course with Helen Coverley

A few weeks ago I met up with friends from my distant past! They mentioned they were going on a workshop at Poppy Patch, a place I attend at least twice a month, so I said I would try and get on the same course. Needless to say I got on the course not having a clue what I had signed up for!

Helen Coverley was teaching a workshop making a trug, so armed with my equipment I joined Annie, Helen and Beryl, plus four other class members to make the trug. It was a fun filled day, starting with cutting the heavy card, much moaning went on, it was heavy work. Then the gluing started and there seemed to be more glue on our hands than on the trug. Finally we started sewing with small curved needles, always a difficult thing to handle.
The finished items were great and all eight of us had very different trugs.
Helen was a great teacher and gave us lots of hints and tips.

Lovey morning spent at Colemans Warehouse taking a class with Trish Ablett.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and all the fabric and pattern is provided. I love this Owl bag, pattern by Debbie Shaw. He will probably come on holiday with me next month.

August IAM carft day

Five of us enjoyed a lovely IAM craft day, with lots of laughter, great desserts and Oh! yes some craft work.
Ann had resurrected a tapestry from Australia and was busy with needle and wool. Pauline was busy making robins on her sewing machine, Clare switched from sewing a scissor case to practising crochet, Shirley was busy with her crochet hook, while I cut out patterns and fabric for an owl set and then switched to working on my Winter scene crochet.

Sewing day in the Happy Room

Today was voted a sewing day in the Happy Room.
Both girls need a cover for their gym hoops. They made a long strip of fabric by sewing together cut pieces of fabric and they sewing both edges to take elastic. As I did not have any elastic the right size, Granddad took them to Hobbycraft to buy some while I cooked lunch. After lunch the completed the hoop covers. Next the embroidery machine was used to make a present for a little girl at my church, also called Abigail.
