This morning we visited the large expanse of Salt Flats at San Pedro del Pinatar.
It is a designated natural park area where flamingos tend to gather. The flamingos rarely seem to have acquired their pink colour when then are wading in the salt flats, but there are usually great numbers of them.
A wide variety of other birds use the area on their migration North or South.
The large lorries drive along narrow ridges collecting the salt which is then put on conveyors and piled into large white heaps to dry.
