DPN needles holder

Some time in the middle of the night I decided to make some holders for my DPN knitting needles and could not wait to make them.
I have no idea why I have not made any before.
The 5 needles are safely tucked away in the holder.

Highly recommend this series on Amazon Prime, the twists and turns are keeping us thrilled.
Staring Reese Witherspoon.

The Project Bag

I thought I would like to make a project bag, not that i have a project in mind!
Having found an orphan block from some time ago, i dusted off the vinyl, purchased long long ago and an old orange zip.

It was to be a bit of an experiment as I still have the shakes, and sewing is not easy for me at the moment.

Firstly I attached Iron on Pellon  to the lining fabric [grey] and made a sandwich with my orphan block, did some simple quilting to hold it altogether.
Attached the zip in place, damaged a needle on the metal, should have used a more modern zip!
Cut the vinyl and using Wonder clips sewed fabric to the sides, and finally put the binding on.

It is probably the worst attachment of binding but at least I was sewing again.
Orphan block for the back.
Front with it’s see through pocket and I found a skein of wool charm for a zip pull.

I was pleased I could actually accomplish something in my Happy Room, and will try to make more.

Biopsy, bruises and a block finish

Thursday I went into hospital at 10.30 for my lung biopsy, the staff could not have been nicer and put me at ease.
The procedure meant lying on my front and opening my shoulder blades while they CT scanned me and found the spot to take a sample. I was not looking  forward to it but the surgeon explained everything and I managed OK. Back to the day room where I rested for 3 hours and had a sandwich. Chris then collected me.  I felt fine until the anaesthetic wore off about midnight and I felt the smallest of discomfort.

I watched a few Flosstubes on YouTube, spent some money on Amazon and did not fall asleep again.

Getting blood out of me is worse than getting blood out of stone [look away now!]

These are a few of my many bruises!!

On a happy note I completed the 12 blocks for Pat Sloan’s Summer Soirée, taking it very slowly because of all the constant shaking.
Not sure if this will be the layout and what I will do for the sashing, but I have enjoyed making the blocks.

Thursday there will be a meeting at the NHS to look at the biopsy results and then probably on Friday they will sort out my treatment plan.
Before that I have Abigail’s 18th birthday to celebrate on the actual day of her birth. Hard to believe she will be 18 years old.

Chris’s Birthday

On Sunday we visited the family after all taking Lateral Flow Tests because of Covid and keeping me safe before I go into hospital for my biopsy.
Dinner was to celebrate Chris reaching the grand age of 71 !
Our youngest granddaughter loves to make cakes and is becoming quite the cook, she made him his favourite cake, a Coffee Cake.
It was absolutely delicious and Chris ate most of it.

The evening was so nice and just what we both needed.

Yesterday we celebrated Chris’s actual birthday while I am isolating, with a nice meal.
The Bishop and his wife dropped off flowers and a basket of goodies, I have been overwhelmed by the cards and messages, thank you so much.
Today is the dreaded biopsy, but the prayers I feel from everyone will get me through it.

The binding is sewn down

I managed to sew down the binding on my latest quilt before I go for my lung biopsy on Thursday.
I try to set myself a little goal each day, although some days are harder than others.
It’s nice to have a finish.
Opps just realised its upside down!

Hope

My word of the year is HOPE, when I choose this word in January I had no idea how much i would need it.

A week ago we decided to take a 6 day trip to a local Caravan site, before I needed a biopsy on the 29th. It has been a round of MRI’s scanners and hospital visits for the lung and brain cancer.

Saturday was glorious as we pulled into Covert CL at West Haddon.
The new awning was ideal for lounging in and admiring the views.

Sunday I had another bad turn and an ambulance was called, followed by almost ten hours in A & E.
We stayed home hoping to resume our trip when i recovered.

Monday I passed out in the shower and again had to be rescued by an ambulance and spent another seven hours in A & E.

All the ambulance crews and NHS staff were wonderful and I cannot praise them enough..

I am black and blue from the nurses and doctors trying to get blood out of me!!

Tuesday was very much a rest day at home.
Wednesday Richard went and helped Chris collect the caravan, while Jacq and Eleanor stayed with me.
Thursday and Friday i did very little as I hurt my replacement knee when I passed out.
I only sleep for about 4 hours due to the strong steroids I am on, so I pass most of the night watching podcasts, I have discovered a whole new world.

They have moved my Biopsy to 23rd, which I am pleased about as then they can sort out a treatment plan.

While all this was going on we had ordered new furniture which arrived at 8.30 this morning, and Chris is unpacking it now.
Three new chairs and a stool.

Thank you for all the prayers, cards and flowers they have given me HOPE.

A little sewing

It’s been almost a month since my last blog post. A month of hospital visits with every imaginable dye and radioactive tests pumped into my body.
I now have the date for my lung biopsy on the 29th and then will follow a treatment plan.

So many people have put me on their prayer list I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

One of the side effects of the brain tumour is that I shake so much and have virtually lost the power to write, but I have managed a little sewing.
The weekly pattern for Summer Soirée by Pat Sloan has been my aim to keep upto date with.
There are twelve blocks and I have number ten cut out and ready to sew.
I love the stories Pat tells that go with her choice of blocks based on Reese Witherspoon’s book.
Each block will have a double sashing.

As we have a few days before I need to visit the hospital we are grabbing the time to go for a “close to home” trip in our caravan, and a much needed change of scenery. Firstly we need to go for our flu jabs my arms are like a pincushion!!
